- Loupe clean — the stone appears flawless under 10x magnification. The highest clarity grade for a natural gemstone and relatively uncommon in nature.
- Eye clean — no inclusions are visible to the naked eye. Any inclusions present require magnification to detect and the stone appears perfectly clear in normal wear.
- Natural inclusions — most sapphires contain some degree of inclusions. Common types include rutile needles (fine, hair-like crystals), feathers (fractures), and bubbles. These form during the geological process and are considered the stone's natural fingerprint -evidence of its authenticity and origin.
